WAREMBO NA MAENDELEO SELF-HELP GROUP
This campaign showcases the remarkable journey of Warembo na Maendeleo, a group of women entrepreneurs in Nairobi, Kenya. Originally formed by three dedicated domestic workers pooling their limited resources to overcome financial challenges, the group has grown to 15 members and now runs a community-led microfinance initiative. This message is designed to rally support to help expand their business ventures and enhance financial independence through vital capital, enabling them to overcome economic hurdles and achieve sustainable growth.
The Challenges Facing Entrepreneurs in Africa
In the heart of Nairobi, three determined women launched the Warembo na Maendeleo Self-Help Group to transform their economic opportunities. Confronted with low wages and significant family responsibilities, they united through regular contributions and small-scale business efforts. Now 15 members strong, they continue to battle limited access to capital—a major barrier that stifles business expansion, especially amid persistent political unrest and shifting economic conditions.
The Power of Business Loans
The group is seeking a KSh. 300,000 loan to offer small business loans ranging from KSh. 1,000 to KSh. 10,000. These funds empower members to invest in their ventures, increase profits, and achieve financial independence. Each member commits to saving KSh. 2,000 monthly, ensuring steady contributions that bolster growth and overall sustainability.
Real Entrepreneurs, Real Impact
Supported by our ROPE Management Strategy, team leaders receive essential training and coaching to drive business success. Members operate diverse ventures—from milk distribution and vegetable sales to beauty shops. Despite recent economic challenges and protests, their commitment to repaying loans remains unwavering. With each member generating an average profit of KSh. 5,000 per month, their collective income of KSh. 75,000 is poised to rise with further funding.
